Sea of Thieves receives a free update with Lost Treasures

Rare has announced today that the long awaited Lost Treasures update for Sea of Thieves is finally out! This includes things from quality of life upgrades through to entirely new content for players to tackle. And the best part is, it’s all for free, so all you have to do is load up the game for your desired system, Xbox One or Windows 10 (and this includes the Xbox Game Pass users), and let it update!

But what do you get for your 0 dollars? First up is the hugely craved checkpoint system for the Tall Tales narrative driven experiences, meaning players no longer have to worry about losing all their progress and starting from the beginning, with checkpoints allowing players to progress at their own pace without being severely punishing. There’s also a few other things, like tooltips on the map which will give you a better idea of where you’re going and what you’re doing.
Daily Bounties are another cool feature for your day to day play, with players able to check out challenges are on offer with them changing from day to day. Thus, you know, the name. Just check the ‘What’s New’ messages when you log on to see what you’ve been tasked with for a new way to earn all that Gold and all those Doubloons. Make it rain!
And, to really enforce and boost the Bounties and in the spirit of them, there’s also going to be additional weekly and one-off events. Every Friday during the update, players get to end the week with a boost from the Fort Night (ho ho ho, I see what you did there, Rare), which increases the returns on Stronghold treasure taken from Skeleton Forts, and of course, there’s going to be heaps more events in the future.
