And it’s gone: The esports and gaming show screenPLAY is no more

Just over 30 minutes ago, screenPLAY’s official Twitter account made a sad announcement. screenPLAY has only been around for less than a year but they’ve just broken the news that the show is ending.
Within the last hour, the following tweet went up onto @screenPLAYau:

By the end of the show’s run, it’s aired 2 seasons on TV plus posted multiple livestreams on Twitch and about 200+ videos on YouTube.
We’re sad to see screenPLAY go. The show demonstrated that gaming is becoming not only more common but more mainstream as well.

About screenPLAY

screenPLAY was conceived in mid-2017 as Channel 7’s foray into the gaming and esports team through an official show. The show comes off the backs of the highly successful Good Game from ABC. In fact, Good Game’s co-host Stephanie “Hex” Bendixsen was again a co-host on screenPLAY.
Here’s the show’s description as shown on their official website:

Each week presenters Stephanie Bendixsen and Nich Richardson cover the latest and greatest in esports and gaming – the latest news, reviews, livestreams, gameplays, interviews and so much more.

Of course, screenPLAY isn’t the only gaming or esports show around. It just happens to be the one being backed by a major TV channel. If you’re keen for esports news, there’s always The Esports Show ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
