Pokémon Sword and Shield – the fastest-selling Nintendo Switch game yet

With the release of the first main series Pokémon on the Nintendo Switch, all predictions headed towards major release expectations, but nothing prepares us for it to be the fastest-selling Nintendo Switch game yet.

Rough Translation; “Pokémon Sword & Shield” has exceeded 6 million worldwide sales in the first week of release! Making it the quickest most sold Nintendo Switch game ever in history!

Pokémon Sword and Shied exceeded over 6 million copies sold in the first week alone!  Two million of those 6 million copies were purchased in the US during the first two days.

These statistics show just how large the Pokémon market is even after 2 decades of production. Despite the huge release it had, the game has been met with mixed reviews as players argue over the UI, user experience and pokemon systems, some requesting a full rehaul of the way the UI is designed. The competitive side is up for discussion as we will see an increase of competitive teams being released as the game progresses.
