Why the new Jumanji movie is going to be awesome

All the naysayers out there don’t like the new movie’s association with the original movie. But, I disagree for a lot of reasons.
Firstly, yes, it’s another ‘remake’ so to speak. You don’t need to point out the hit-and-miss success of particular franchises of movies since some have been quite bad.

Give the new Jumanji a chance

It’s easy to judge (and misjudge) a movie by its trailer. Until the movie is finally out, I think we can all just chill out about how bad it’ll be until then.

In the meantime, you can just re-watch the old Jumanji movie and relive (what I believe) is a great moment from Robin Williams’ career.

The premise of the new Jumanji is awesome

Alright. So, I haven’t seen the movie yet but I love the concept of it. It helps that I’m already a fan of related media like Sword Art Online, Accel World and Zathura: A Space Adventure. If you’re familiar with the first two, you’ll see they’re related to Jumanji by way of the “Oh no, I’m trapped in a video game” concept.
Any story where the main part of the story is the game is awesome. Who hasn’t played a game and wished they could really be in it?
Even if the new Jumanji is far removed from the first movie in its overall feel and tone, I think people should be very excited about seeing “the other side”. Don’t you ever wonder what it might have been like being sucked into Jumanji instead of it escaping into the real world? I think this movie needs to shed light on that mystery in a way that doesn’t take 3 seasons and 40 episodes. Yeah, I’m talking about you Jumanji the animated series.

The cast is great

I don’t know how to say no to the combination of The Rock, Jack Black, Karen Gillan and Kevin Hart. How do you do that?
Jack Black is playing a teenage girl playing a middle-aged rotund professor. I mean, c’mon. You’ve gotta admit that this role is going to be heaps better than whatever he played in King Kong. Speaking of remakes…
We need to see Karen Gillan in more of a fun role. Something more fun than whatever Nebula was in Guardians of the Galaxy and its sequel Vol 2.

Final thoughts

We’ve all got to stop immediately dismissing remakes and sequels as soon as we hear their names come up. Let’s all just let ourselves feel a little excited about a potentially great movie.
For all you know, you might actually enjoy it when it’s out ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
