Stranger Things Season 2 will be coming to Netflix Australia customers on October 27. To help those of us waiting eagerly for the show, Netflix has teamed up with BonusXP Inc. to create a pixel adventure game.
For those that don’t know much about Stranger Things, it is a Netflix series by the Duffer Brothers. The story revolves around 3 young boys whose friend disappears under mysterious circumstances. There are references galore for fans of 80s sci-fi and pop culture: classic movie posters, Dungeons & Dragons and arcades, to name a few.
Gameplay mechanics are easy enough to pick up. Press to move to an area as well as interact with objects. Objects that you can interact with are helpfully highlighted as you touch them.
One of the best parts of the game are the references back to the show such as the opening title animation. The music and sound effects add a lot to the 80s feel of the game (which it takes directly from the show).
While not shown in these screenshots, you’ll be able to pick up more characters to play as throughout the game. You start off as Sheriff Hopper to begin with and as you pick up your next character, you’ll find several slots for more playable characters down the road.
Hopefully, there’s enough game time here to fill in the next 22 days until the new season is out!
