Ever thought, “Man, I’d love to play Mario Kart on my phone.” Well, you’re going to be able to do that soon with Mario Kart Tour according to Nintendo!
Firstly, it started off with a seemingly tame tweet… until you start the second sentence:
The checkered flag has been raised and the finish line is near. A new mobile application is now in development: Mario Kart Tour! #MarioKartTour Releasing in the fiscal year ending in March 2019. pic.twitter.com/8GIyR7ZM4z
— Nintendo of America (@NintendoAmerica) February 1, 2018
Then, as you finish the second sentence, you realise the words “in development” and feel a tiny bit of sadness. Nonetheless, Mario Kart is coming to one of my favourite gaming platforms!: mobile.
So, the important part to note from the tweet is that release won’t be until March 2019. ????
My main questions about Mario Kart Tour
Of course, there weren’t many details in the tweet. Here are the things I’m looking forward to hearing more about:
- Multiplayer gameplay
- Cross-platform gameplay (i.e. between Android and iOS)
- One-off price or freemium (à la Super Mario Run)
