You might be thinking to yourself, ‘gee, I live in Brisbane or nearby and I would love to get to PAX Aus and Melbourne International Games Week, but in addition, I would love to travel with a bunch of like-minded people and spend the travel time making a game’. Well, fear not! Locomojam could just be your ticket to ride all the way to PAX, complete with a fully finished game to show off for your time and effort!
The train will hold up to 50 people, all brimming with creative energy, and that could include you! Inspired by the phenomenally successful Train Jam over in the states, this home grown event is calling for folks from all walks of life with all kinds of skillsets. Programmers, musicians, artists, designers, if you have a skill that can be put into a game you’re welcome to climb aboard!
Organized by the delightful and talented Giselle Rosman, Global Game Jam Melbourne Producer, she’s created the event not only wanting to create something special for Australians but wanting to champion diversity and inclusion in the process.
“Locomojam is an exciting way for Australian game developers to connect and fire-up their creativity in the lead-up to MIGW.”
“Developers with diverse backgrounds and experiences will come together, get clever and creative, share experiences, try zany ideas and have a ridiculous amount of fun on the way.”
The best part about all of this? In the end, your shiny end product will be shown off at PAX Aus, where people can marvel at the talents of you and your newfound friends, clap enthusiastically, and make you feel really good about yourself and your efforts!
Where can I catch the Locomojam?
Locomojam will leave from Brisbane’s Roma Street Station, stopping at Sydney where all jammers will get to spend a night at the Academy of Interactive Entertainment, enjoying all the wonders it has to offer, before continuing on to Melbourne, with the entire journey taking place over the 5th and 6th of October, with the train journey itself taking 37 hours. Which is sure to just fly by (time, flying, having fun, etc.).
So, want to get on board? Applications close September 1st, so you better get in quick. Places are $80 each and you can apply online right here!
