Are you the sort of person that spends Valentine’s alone? Are you tired of having to do things like ‘love your significant other’ and ‘get appreciated’? Do you just want this all to end so you can spend time with Borderlands 3, your one true love? Then do I have some good news for you!
The biggest piece of news is that Borderlands 3‘s latest free seasonal event, Broken Hearts Day, is live right now! As with the last event, all you have to do is go talk to your little weird dinosaur thing pal Maurice who will explain he is having some trouble understanding human courtship rituals. As a result, the vault hunters now have to… Go shoot some hearts? Like, actual hearts that can be found in all the areas of the game, floating around ‘lovesick’ enemies.
The more hearts you shoot, the better your reward. Some go down in a fiery explosion of death, while others will turn enemies into friendlies for a short amount of time. So. What do you get for busting up some hearts?
10 – “ECHOcardiogram” ECHO Skin
25 – “Cosmic Romance” Weapon Trinket
50 – “Terminal Polyaimorous” Legendary Maliwan SMG
75 – “Heartbreaker” Vault Hunter Skin
100 – “Wedding Invitation” Legendary Jakobs Sniper Rifle
That’s some cool loot! You have a week to complete the event, with it coming to a close on Thursday the 20th of February. One cool thing to note is the Jakobs sniper rifle being called ‘wedding invitation’, which I for one am hoping means the next big fancy DLC will be Hammerlock’s big gay redneck wedding.
But! That isn’t all the content Gearbox is gifting you!
Borderlands 3 is also getting a level cap increase! Not a huge one, mind you, but an increase all the same, with the cap moving from 50 to 53. There’s also a lot of fun little updates, like True Takedown Mode for Maliwan Takedown, Guardian Rank toggling, event toggling and skippable cutscenes! All the quality of life things fans have been asking for since release are finally here.
As one final soft, sweet kiss from Gearbox, they’ve left us with the news of a big reveal coming 6.30am AEDST February 28th on their Twitch Channel.
