8 new features coming to Twitch this year

TwitchCon 2017 is the annual convention that celebrates the platform, the creators, fans and community. This year, TwitchCon announced a host of great new features for creators and users.
Twitch announced a heap of awesome new features during the keynote at TwitchCon 2017. All these new features focus on improving the experience for creators as well as their communities.
Before we get into it, there were some amazing milestones and achievements that Twitch celebrated at the event:

  • In 2017, 71% more money was generated on average through the Twitch Partners program.
  • Twitch Prime has grown by 50% more subscriptions since the last TwitchCon in October 2016.
  • Clips have been viewed 1 billion times since the feature was launched (May 2016).
  • 110,000 streamers joined the Affiliate Program within 6 months of launch (April 2017).
  • Video delay has been reduced by about 60%.
  • AutoMod scans 320 messages a month.
  • Over the 6 weeks since launch, over 1100 devs have registered to create Extensions and Extensions have been viewed by over 15 million people.

Now, for the awesome news for creators. Here are the 8 new features coming very soon to Twitch creators, organised by release date.

Due November 2017:

  • Achievements – Track your progress to Affiliate and Partner status.
  • Raids – Twitch is making raids official and native to the platform. Use /raid to help your viewers join a raid and drive traffic to another streamer. View who has raided you and choose who can raid you.
  • Rituals – Celebrate special community moments by allowing visitors to signal to the rest of the community that they’re new so that Twitch can help break the ice for them.
  • Stream summary – Stats and numbers galore: viewership, followers, chat activity, how much your last stream has helped you progress in becoming an Affiliate or Partner.
  • In-Extension purchases (beta) – Partners and Affiliates will be able to earn revenue from digital items bought by viewers.

Due Q4 2017:

  • Premieres – Generate hype around uploaded content by sharing them through live first-viewing events. Creators can watch along with their communities too!
  • Rooms – Create smaller, always-on chat groups for your community, followers and so on natively from within Twitch.
  • Subscription gifting – Gift 1-month subs for any channel to anyone on Twitch.
