Call Of Duty World League starts with a bomb threat

CWL (Cod World League) Dallas has begun, taking place at the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center from the 9th of December through to the 11th of December! With over 200 teams competing for the top prize of $200,000; APAC have four teams competing. One team has made pool play and three others in the open bracket.
Thousands of spectators, visiting from all over walked into the venue ready for a day of their favourite teams battling it out. At 4pm CST Friday December 8th (9am AEST Saturday December 9th) a call was made to local authorities. An unknown person had advised they left two backpacks in the arena full of explosives.
MLG executive Adam Apicella and crew had to quickly but safely evacuate everyone from the venue. Teams were mid game during this, with Optic Gaming on main stage, just beating Engima6 in Capture the Flag to lead the series 2-1. APAC teams were just preparing to play when they were told to evacuate.

I had a quick discussion with Reef ‘Eminence’ Galloway about the evacuation and how he felt throughout it all.
Reef:
“The event was running smoothly, we were warming up for our first game of the day when the fire alarm lights started going off. Wasn’t sure what was going on, admins were rushing everywhere then the entire venue got moved down the street. Police and bomb squad arrived, felt like we were a part of an action movie to be honest. Never experienced anything like it before.”
Q: So, you had no idea there was a bomb threat?
Reef:
“Not at first, we thought it was a fire. Until an American lady at the bar we were eating at told us a news channel reported a bomb threat”
Q: Did you then feel scared knowing there was a threat?
Reef:

“Nah. We were well and truly safe from the venue. A lot of people say the threat was in the BMW marathon part of the centre that starts today so hopefully no more threats or issues. Their security it tight. They check all bags and scan you down”

A bomb squad and k9 unit arrived to search the premises for the explosives. After several hours of searching the premises the bomb squad and k9 unit could not find anything and the situation was confirmed a hoax. Dallas Police Department tweeted “Explosive Ordinance Squad completed their searched of the convention centre and determined that there were no explosive devices. A Hoax Bomb Threat offense will be generated on case number 279086-2017.”
Matches resume on Saturday 9th at 10am CST (Sunday 10th 3am AEST) with strict ruling of disqualification enforced strongly if teams are running late to their match.
