Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 is getting a remaster

Listen. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 for the PS1 are some of the best games of all time. I remember long nights playing the hanger level, trying to do a specific yet impossible trick over a gap to try and unlock Goku because Gamefaqs told me you could do that, and why would the internet lie to me. But this isn’t about my lack of Goku, this is about the fact that these absolutely amazing skating games are getting a complete overhaul and re-release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Activision and Vicarious Visions are bringing us not just a bunch of HD textures slapped onto old models, but a completely revamped but familiar feeling version of the first two Tony Hawk games, all the original levels, plus all the original skaters are back looking better than ever. But, that’s not all. Activision is promising new tricks and secrets to uncover, new challenges, as well as an online mode.
The classic fan loved create-a-skater and create-a-park modes are back too, with the ability to share all your custom made parks online as well as more customisation options than ever before.

And, yes. The original soundtracks are still available, promising many of the tracks will appear (but note it doesn’t say all of them, likely there will be a few missing due to licensing).
Although speaking of licensing issues, it does make me wonder if we’ll see the same unlockables. Does anyone else remember getting Spider-Man in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2? Are we still going to get that?

And as if all that wasn’t enough, the collectors edition of the game comes with an absolutely gorgeous Birdhouse skate deck for a very modest $170, limited to one per customer. I know I’ve already pre-ordered mine and you can do the same at the EBGames website. No, I do not know how to skate but gosh darn it I will learn.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 hits PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on September 4th.
