Twitch partners with the NBA for an awesome project

Twitch isn’t just the home of great video game streams. There’s Twitch Creative, IRL and now, something cool from the NBA.

The NBA comes to Twitch

On Friday, Twitch started streaming NBA G League games. They announced just the day before that fans will be able to watch the games together online in this new partnership.

The NBA G League

The NBA G League is the NBA’s official minor league. Twitch will be streaming 6 games a week during the season.
The next upcoming games:

  • Salt Lake City Stars vs. Westchester Knicks: Dec 20, 11:00 am – 2:00 pm AEDT
  • Sioux Falls Sky Force vs. Reno Bighorns: Dec 21, 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm AEDT
  • Sioux Falls Skyforce vs. Salt Lake City Stars: Dec 22, 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm AEDT

A new fan experience

Other than experiencing games with thousands of other fans in chat, Twitch will be offering other awesome features. Using new extensions, fans will be able to track players or team stats as well as earn loyalty points for watching games.
Co-streams will also be hosted by Twitch Partners GoldGlove, JustJamieHDG, and VernNotice. You can follow along with their streams to listen to their commentary and interact with their communities.

The future of streaming

Clearly, Twitch is becoming such a huge community platform that it’s building on its roots in gaming. This new partnership with the NBA including co-streams with Twitch Partners heralds a new level of accessible and interactive streams. This could easily be replicated for esports tournaments if it isn’t already being done.
