PAX Aus: HyperX has some sweet new gear

HyperX is one of the brands present at PAX Aus this year. We had a tour and overview of the latest gear with PR Supervisor Michael Teng.
HyperX has been around for the last 3 years and their catalogue covers a variety of gaming peripherals from headphones to desk mats.

We got introduced to two new pieces of gear today which we will now introduce to you: the Cloud Alpha and the Alloy FPS Pro.

The Alloy FPS Pro

The newest keyboard to be added to the catalogue, the Alloy FPS Pro was launched just today at PAX.
The keyboard is a shorter version of the existing Alloy FPS. The numeric keypad has been excluded from this keyboard to make the most of the space you would have on a desktop.
Features:

  • Solid steel frame
  • CHERRY® MX mechanical key switches
  • Portable design with detachable cable
  • Game Mode, 100-percent Anti-Ghosting and N-key rollover functions
  • HyperX red backlit keys with dynamic lighting effects

The Cloud Alpha

This headset is an interesting deviation from the rest of the headphones available from HyperX. It’s their first headset with dual chambers — this feature helps separate bass from mids and highs so that you get a clearer sound.
The concept of the Cloud Alpha is that it appeals to gamers who won’t don’t just play games but want to listen to music without losing quality.
Specifications:

  • Driver: Custom dynamic, 50mm with neodymium magnets
  • Type: Circumaural, closed back
  • Frequency response: 13Hz–27,000Hz
  • Impedance: 65 Ω
  • Sound pressure level: 98dBSPL/mW at 1kHz
  • T.H.D.: < 1%

We asked Michael about whether HyperX had any big plans in future and by the sounds of it, they have some big things planned for next year around CES in January so keep an eye out over the next few months!
