Earlier this week, Fortnite creators, Epic Games, permanently banned FaZe Jarvis from playing Fortnite after the highly regarded player uploaded a series of videos to his YouTube channel which showed him using an aimbot in various online Fortnite matches.
This has been a hot topic among the Fortnite and gaming community and Twitch superstar, Dr Disrespect, gave his two sense on the situation, saying that FaZe Jarvis’ ban should be lowered.
Dr Disrespect argues that their handling of the situation surrounding FaZe Jarvis using hacks had contradicted earlier actions taken by Epic Games after a player was caught cheating during the Fortnite World Cup.
The cheater during the World Cup refers to the competitive player, XXiF, who had received a 14-day suspension from the game for cheating. The cheating took place during the week 3 qualifiers on April 28th, as a professional player, HighSky, accused player XXiF of teaming up with opponents to give him kills. The proof behind this was clear as enemy players were seen shooting bricks and leaving treasure chests alone before allowing XXiF to kill them for easy qualifier points.
Players have spoken out on social media, calling out to Epic that a simple two-week ban for cheating throughout a major tournament’s qualifier is a tiny punishment in comparison to Jarvis’ permaban for using an aimbot for an entertaining video on an alternative account.
“I don’t get it. If anything, Jarvis should just get a temporary ban. One week, two weeks, whatever it is. And then bring him back in. He knows. He wasn’t using it for anything.”
An official comment has been released by The Sun by an Epic Games spokesperson;
“We have a zero-tolerance policy for the usage of cheat software.” “When people use aimbots or other cheat technologies to gain an unfair advantage, they ruin games for people who are playing fairly.”
