Decksplash: How to get this Splatoon-like game for free

Bossa Studios, of Surgeon Simulator infamy, are taking a punt.
Bossy Studios are betting that they can get over 100k of you to download and play their game Decksplash on PC for FREE before the 10th of November. If they succeed then they’ll chuck it on Steam Early Access. If they don’t, then the whole thing gets canned. So should you?
If Splatoon and EA’s (Electronic Arts in this case, not early access, yes I realise it’s a PC gaming article so it is confusing) had a baby then you would expect it to look somewhat like Decksplash. You are such a deck! No seriously, you get to be a deck, with wheels and trucks but you’re still essentially just a deck. There are three customisation options for your deck right now, actual deck design/paint job, truck colour and wheel colour. There are some pretty amazing ones, from run-of-the-mill ordinary skateboard looking shapes to a piece of steak (raw, that’s an important bit of info, definitely needed that if you were going to decide to play this game).
So, what do you actually do with your deck? Well, like the name and mental imagery that no doubt follows suggest you splash it around. You do sweet grinds bro and gnarly flips and link them all together to create the ULTIMATE COMBO and once you land it, you paint the area you land in. How bodacious the combo is controls how big the splash is. And, just like Splatoon, the team with the most area wins! Currently, with only one online multiplayer mode released, it is 3 vs 3 combat.
It’s so easy, right? Well, Decksplash is fast, you use (Warning: Xbox One controls forthcoming.) LB and RB to kick and heel flip and the right thumbstick in the air to do everything else. Grind is bound to X, and X also helps with manuals and wallrides. A is of course jump and while you’re flipping the board around in mid-air gives it an extra kick to whatever you’re doing to your deck at the time. B does something, but I’m only a couple of hours into the game so I’m sticking to the basics, B isn’t one of them.
I love splashing my deck around the 3 play areas currently released. It’s great fun! It’s fast and annoying and I can see myself playing it for hours while chatting with mates in Discord. There is a decent enough skill gap between skilled players and newbies to make it interesting and as long as new play areas come thick and fast it will stay fun. So what are you waiting for? Get your deck out and get splashing. But make it snappy, we might only have until Friday (10th of November) to do so!
This week is Decksplash Free Week so go and grab it for free on Steam! It’ll only be up until the 10th.
